Paolo’s decennial research in the world of art saw him to experiment various techniques with eclectic ability. From graphic synthesis to painting, from the video art to the sculpture. The latest activity of the young artist is a synthesis of all these aspects. This experience started four years ago with an installation realised in the charming ruins of Loggia del Podestà, found underneath the bell tower of Città della Pieve’s cathedral.
He accomplishes an analysis of the great pictorial tradition above all Tuscan-Umbrian revisiting, with great capability, works of Duccio, Iacopo di Mino il Pellicciaio, Perugino, Pomarancio and other less known masters.
Images of the past and of the tradition that bring themselves up-to-date with new colour and fine gold leaves in contact with contemporary materials and others of common use such as wall paper or like those commonly used for gift-wrapping.
These elements are inserted like in a pop concept. The image reproduced seems to mingle in a nearly paradoxical way with its commercial cousin, gaining a not more evocative value, but only an ornamental one, therefore merchandised.
In these works too the artist uses the insertion of metallic plates in the missing parts which give new life to the work and make it express new concepts.
The never continuous lines seem to frame the working days, nearly paying homage to the fresco technique, so that they create an ideal bridge between the ancient and the contemporary.
